Tantalum is mainly used for capacitors with high capacity and small size at the same time. Since the metal is non-toxic and inert with respect to body fluids, it is also used for implants, such as bone nails.
Due to its much longer life and maintenance-free resistance, tantalum has proven to be the most cost-effective solution for corrosion protection in pharmaceutical and chemical process applications.
